Airshow report written on June 1, 2003.
Well, it's hard to say how New Garden's show turned out. The show coincides with the local EAA Chapter 240's fly-in and pancake breakfast on that same weekend, something New Garden Airport hosts quite frequently over the course of a year. The weather was awful - heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Delaware Valley the night before the airshow, light to moderate rain the morning of the show, and very high winds - with gusts upwards to fifty miles an hour! Unfortunately, the show had to be cancelled because of the weather, and to answer your question - yes, I drove 108 miles (54 miles one-way) for nothing. Well, not exactly - I saw the FM-2 Wildcat in its hangar and that was good enough for me. Here's hoping for much better weather at Reading for the annual World War II Weekend!
